Antibodies made by the body that attack molecules, including DNA and proteins, in the body’s own cell nuclei. This is a form of autoimmunity, and can grievously harm healthy cells and tissue, though it does not always do so. Testing for presence of ANAs is part of diagnosing autoimmune diseases.
