MitoAction strives to serve the community of people affected by Mitochondrial Disease by raising awareness and gaining support from our corporate and community partners.

2007 Grants & Programs:

  • Reed Elsevier Cares - "But you don't look sick!" an adolescent support project
  • Sean McDonough Foundation - "Energy 4 Education" School success DVD
  • Mito 411 - a toll-free support hotline staffed by a social worker/psychologist and trained volunteers
  • Children's g-tube book "When Jeremy Jones Stomach Stopped Working" - 2000 copies distributed at no cost to families and schools
  • International teleconferences offered monthly, with guest speakers - offered toll-free and recorded for on-demand sharing
  • New diagnosis support group - offered online/via teleconference
  • Legal Advocacy across the lifespan - FAQ's explained by a disability attorney
